Let’s get to know each of these settings in detail.
1]display
Here you can adjust your PC’s display settings, turn down or up the brightness, use your PC in night mode with warmer colors, and also adjust HDR settings. To use the night light on your PC, all you have to do is turn on the switch.
For those who don’t know, HDR means high dynamic range, which also means images and videos with vivid and brighter colors. This feature is especially useful for gamers or people who are interested in videos etc. But not every Windows 11 PC supports HDR. So, before proceeding with HDR settings, you must first check whether your Windows 11 supports HDR or not.
2]tone
Next comes the sound settings. Of course, you can adjust the sound input and output settings for your PC here. Here you can choose your audio output device, pair a new device, and adjust volume settings. There are also settings for the input devices where you can choose the device for your speaking or recording. However, with the new Windows 11, you can now get to the sound settings right from the taskbar by clicking the volume icon.
Did you know that your Windows 11 PC can automatically adjust the volume of various programs when you make or receive a call on your PC?
When you are in the sound settings on your Windows 11 PC, just scroll down and click More sound settings. Go to communication tab and adjust the settings according to your own preferences.
3]Notifications
Under the notification settings, you can choose whether or not to receive the notifications from your apps or senders. You can manually select the apps you want to receive notifications for.
4]Focus Assist
This tab also contains the Focus Assist settings, which essentially control the time you do and don’t receive notifications.
Here you can either turn off all notifications or choose them based on your priorities. You can also create your own notification rules. You will agree that the notifications often distract us from our work, so this part of the system settings in Windows 11 is very important and can certainly affect your productivity.
5]Power and Battery
Here you can check how much energy your PC is consuming, which apps and programs are consuming the maximum energy, etc. You have the battery icon in your taskbar to see how much battery is left in your Windows laptop.
You can either jump into your battery settings from this icon or go via Win+I > System Settings > Performance & Battery. For better performance of your PC and its durability, it is very important to have good battery settings. You should adjust the time when your screen turns off and the device goes to sleep to save energy.
There is a power mode where you can optimize your PC based on power consumption and performance. You can choose the best power plan for you – Energy Efficient, Balanced, or Best Performance. Then there’s the Battery Saver, which lets you restrict some notifications and background activities to save battery life.
6]Storage
Here you can check how your disk space is being used on the PC. How much space applications/programs take up, how much space is occupied by temporary files and others. You can directly click the options and delete the unwanted files to free up some disk space. For users who are too busy to look for the cache and temp files on the PC, there is a feature like Storage Sense that automatically clears the cache and temp files and frees up disk space. It also manages the content stored in the cloud.
By default, Storage Sense runs when you’re running low on disk space, but you can run it every day, week, or month. Here you can also schedule to empty your trash in 1 day, 14 days, 30 days or 60 days. The next tab in the storage optimization setting allows you to delete the files in your Downloads folder if they haven’t been opened for more than 1 day, 14 days, 30 days or 60 days. By default, this setting is set to Never.
Here you will find the settings to share the files, photos and links with the nearby Windows devices. The Nearby Sharing setting is set to Off by default, but you can change it to Everyone nearby or Just your own devices. Also, you can choose the location where you want to save your received files. You can also change the name of your device here by clicking Rename.
8]Multitasking
Multitasking, the feature is obviously here to improve your work experience and increase your productivity. Snap windows feature allows you to quickly switch between tabs. On the Desktop tab you can choose whether you want to see the open windows on the desktop you are using or on all desktops.
Pressing Alt+Tab together on the keyboard will show all open tabs and windows on your PC. Here you can choose whether you only want to see the open windows or also the tabs.
Shake the title bar window, activate it, and when you move your cursor to the address bar, the window will shake and minimize automatically.

9]Activation
This tab shows the activation status of your operating system. Here you can also upgrade your Windows edition or change the license key.
10]Troubleshooting
Choose whether to run the troubleshooter automatically without notification, with notification, prompt before running, or just not run. You can also check the troubleshooter history here. Click Other troubleshooters to view all Windows troubleshooters available on your PC.
There is a troubleshooter for almost everything including your internet connection, audio, printer, windows update, bluetooth, camera, incoming connections, keyboard, network adapter, power supply, program compatibility, audio recording, search and indexing, shared folders, video playback and windows store apps.
11]Recovery
Sometimes even the troubleshooters can’t solve the problems, but there are fixes for almost every problem, but if nothing works, a PC reset might help. This is where recovery comes into play. You will get two recovery options here, the first one is to Reset this PC and the other is Advanced startup.
If you reset your PC, you can keep or remove your personal files and then reinstall Windows on your PC.
Advanced Startup, on the other hand, is a restart option for your PC that allows you to change the startup settings for your PC. After the reboot you will be given the option to change.
It is recommended to save all your unsaved work before clicking the Advanced Start button to save your data.
12]Projection of this PC
You can project your phone or PC onto this unit and use its keyboard and mouse, etc. You can actually add some Android devices too. Your PC can only be recognized for projection if it is connected. You can choose to make it available anywhere or only on secured networks, with or without requiring a PIN to connect.
13]Remote Desktop
Remote Desktop is basically a feature that allows you to connect to a Windows computer in another location and use its desktop. It is especially useful for people who want to connect and control other devices over the local network or the Internet.
14]Clipboard
We don’t talk about it often, but I think it’s one of the most used features in your Windows PC. Every time you press Ctrl+C or manually copy something on your PC, it gets saved to your clipboard. However, if you copy something else again, the first thing you copied will be replaced. This is where the clipboard settings come into play. Turn the key to ON and you can save multiple items to your clipboard. Copy multiple items to your clipboard and press Win+V on your keyboard to view all copied items. Choose the one you want to paste.
You can also automatically sync your clipboard items with supported devices, which is a very useful add-on for this feature.
15]About
Last but not least, we have this About tab in System Preferences where you can see all the details about your device, your operating system, product key and activation, device manager and much more.
So that was the detailed system settings for your Windows 11. This post will surely help you to understand your computer system better.
